Helpful, Useful, and Easy to Use Drawing Poses
Anime Reference Poses is a huge variety of high quality drawing poses reference images made by “Brosatsu” – to help you find the exact pose you need for your drawing, figure, and gesture bases
When it comes to drawing poses are the most important things to get right. It’s your foundation. It’s the foundation for your entire character. Without a strong one, everything else will look wrong. Unfortunately, when we find ourselves in the mood to draw, often we get stuck on trying to find the right post. It can be frustrating losing your motivation to draw as you endlessly scroll through Pinterest or Google images trying to find that pose. If you’re new it can be even worse, because you might also be struggling with trying to draw limbs and proportions correctly – while finding inspiration.
That’s why I made this handy collection of drawing poses that you can use as reference when you’re drawing your characters. Whether you’re a seasoned figure artist or just starting out, there’s something for you here. I personally started making this to speed up making commissions – something I encourage you to take advantage of as well.
One of the wonderful things about art is there’s no wrong way to learn or explore the skill. Don’t be afraid to try new approaches with these poses to see what’s most effective. If one of these poses isn’t quite right, maybe try mixing and matching limbs from different poses. Remember these are just drawing references to speed up, teach, or inspire. There are no rules!
Exactly the Drawing Bases You’re Looking For
The general tips for drawing poses are:
- start with a reference images to help you get the pose just right – if you don’t feel confident enough just yet to start blind
- create a basic skeleton or frame to get the proportions right – think stickman. use your reference for reference if you need to
- flesh out the body and forms so you have something to put your muscles, features, and clothing on
- add in all those pretty details – make it shine
The whole point of this library is letting you skip the proportions and reference stages so you have easy to copy/reference frameworks for poses so you can get on with adding all the fun pieces. Find a pose, copy or save it, paste or drop it into your favorite program, cut, mix, reshape, whatever, and take the thinking out of drawing! This is all here to help find the flow and fun to keep practice and work relaxed.
These are educational tools so there’s no need to give credit. But if you like the site and the poses, why keep it to yourself? Maybe someone else could use a little help with figuring out their poses. Good artists help other artists :3
Now enough reading. Go pick a pose!
